About the Volpe Conference Center
The Volpe Conference Center opened in 2024 in the heart of Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA. The Volpe Conference Center offers multiple options for hosting events and meetings, both large and small, including the main conference room, smaller meeting rooms, and two classroom-style training rooms.
With 17,000 square feet of meeting space, the Conference Center can accommodate events up to 800 people. There is also a media board; reception area; business center area; kitchen area with a refrigerator, microwave, and a sink; a 24/7 kiosk; and coat storage located in the conference center.
The Volpe Conference Center is available to reserve by U.S. DOT Volpe Center staff and U.S. DOT regional staff members, other government groups, and the public.

Conference Space
The Volpe Conference Center offers multiple options for hosting events and meetings. The main conference area includes Rooms 207-211 and can be used as one, open meeting area for large events, or walls can be placed between each of the five bays in the conference room; each bay is able to accommodate approximately 190 people.
In addition to the main conference room, there are smaller breakout rooms adjacent to the main conference room ranging in size from 4 to 20 people.

Meeting Space Technology
Each of the five bays in the main conference room is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Each room includes one projector screen, as well as two lapel microphones and two handheld microphones. There are also several power strips located throughout each of the rooms.
All rooms are virtual meeting capable with agnostic technology that can accommodate Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Adobe Connect, and more.
Guest WiFi is available for non-DOT guests in the conference center and will be provided prior to the event upon request.

Who Can Reserve the Volpe Conference Center
The Volpe Conference Center is available to reserve by all building occupants, other government groups, and the public.

Associated Costs
There is no charge to use the Volpe Conference Center space during normal business hours (Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., excluding holidays). Other costs may be incurred for use outside business hours, AV set-up, and general support.
Getting to the Volpe Conference Center
Very limited parking is available for visitors. Visitors are strongly encouraged to use public transportation. Several parking garages are available in the area within walking distance to the Volpe Conference Center.
Visitor vehicles are subject to screening and inspection by security.
Directions from the Kendall Square/MIT MBTA Stop
The Volpe Conference Center is approximately an 8-minute walk from the Kendall/MIT MBTA stop. Once you arrive at the Kendall/MIT stop, proceed straight through the lobby of the Marriott hotel, then follow the path up the Loughrey Walkway. Alternatively, when you get off the Kendall/MIT stop, you can head northeast on Main Street, continue onto Third Street, turn left on Potter Street, make a right on 5th Street, then proceed to the main entrance.
