National Multimodal Catalog
Federal land management agencies (FLMAs), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), state departments of transportation, and local governments require better data to make informed decisions about investments that support all modes of transportation, including transit, walking, and bicycling. Comprehensive and consistent data can help FLMAs and their partners consider and incorporate multimodal transportation strategically through the Federal Lands Access Program and the Federal Lands Transportation Program.
Volpe is currently assisting the FHWA Office of Federal Lands Highway and the Federal Transit Administration with conducting the National Multimodal Catalog across federal lands. Partner agencies include the Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Forest Service, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Volpe is working with these partners to develop and implement a data collection framework to gather comprehensive and consistent multimodal data across all FLMAs. Once completed, the National Multimodal Catalog will provide better data and support for multimodal transportation to help FLMAs and their partners make more informed planning decisions.
