Cape Cod National Seashore - Satellite Vehicle Maintenance Facility Analysis
Volpe, The National Transportation Systems Center, conducted an alternatives analysis to define needs and evaluate alternative satellite maintenance and storage sites for transit vehicles for the Cape Cod National Seashore (CACO). Alternatives were evaluated in terms of operational cost savings as well as cost/benefit with respect to total costs of land and required infrastructure. In order to prepare a concept-level design and rough cost estimate for the satellite facility, Volpe conducted site visits, interviews, and document reviews to gather information on required sizing and features. A construction consultant was also engaged to provide design assistance and prepare a more detailed cost estimate.
