Pike and San Isabel National Forests, Salida Ranger District - Upper Arkansas River Valley Transit Feasibility
The Salida Ranger District of the Pike and San Isabel National Forests and Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands requested that Volpe determine if transit service is feasible in the Upper Arkansas River Valley in south-central Colorado.
In the summer of 2012, Volpe researched background documents, visited the Valley, and held conversations with several stakeholders to determine the viability of transit serving public lands in the valley.
Volpe's alternative transportation feasibility study focuses specifically on providing transit access to Monarch Ski Resort in the winter and to the river and hiking and mountain biking trailheads in the summer.
