Volpe is working as part of a team to evaluate Midewin's potential for alternative transportation access and connectivity. The study team includes the U.S. Forest Service, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, and its contractor, AECOM. Alternative transportation-related improvements considered included bicycle/pedestrian infrastructure, opportunities for connections via transit and train, complete streets, and strengthened partnerships and coordination among stakeholders.
