James H. Lamond

Work Experience: From 1974 to 1978, the Maryland State Highway Department employed Mr. Lamond as a highway engineer. His job assignments were related to soil dynamics, foundation design and bridge structural analysis. Mr. Lamond has been employed as a civil engineer at the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center since 1978 working mostly in the structural and geotechnical field. While working at the Volpe Center Mr. Lamond duties included tunnel and track technology development for the Federal Transit Administration, track and vehicle design for the Federal Railroad Administration and railroad track construction and maintenance practices for the Department of Defense. Mr. Lamond has also supported the Department of Defense with roadway pavement analysis in Panama and railroad track construction in Russia.

Areas of Expertise: Railroad track construction, railroad vehicle glazing design, railroad vehicle aerodynamic analysis and structural analysis for transit systems.

Education: Mr. Lamond received his B. S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and has taken graduate studies courses at John Hopkins University.
