Robert F. Kennedy Elementary School
Lunch Buddies Program

Approximately 105 Volpe Center volunteers read to second and third grade students twice a month during their lunch period. This program encourages a love of reading among children and exposes them to role models in the transportation field - one of the goals of the Garrett A. Morgan Technology and Transportation Futures Program. This volunteer effort continues the seven year partnership between the Volpe Center and the Kennedy School.

• Volpe Volunteers Wrap Up Another Great Year
  On Monday, May 22, 2000, the Volpe Center Community was recognized by the Cambridge School Volunteers, Inc. (CSV) for its outstanding contributions to the Cambridge public schools.

• Secretary Slater visits the Robert F. Kennedy Elementary School
  On June 25, 1999, former U.S. Transportation Secretary Rodney E. Slater visited the Robert F. Kennedy Elementary School in Cambridge.

• Volpe Journal Spring 99
  The spring 1999 issue of the Volpe Journal takes a look at the Volpe Center Volunteers and the Lunch Buddies Program.

• Lunch Buddies off to a flying start
  On March 5, 1999, the Volpe Center launched a new volunteer program called "Lunch Buddies."
