Volpe Projects: A Record of Success
Adams National Historical Park
This project examines the costs involved regarding transportation issues at Adams National Historical Park. Adams has experienced steady increases in its flow of visitors. Many visitors travel by bus, for which there is currently no system of management. The goal of the report is to explain what the costs of a transportation management system would be in order to reach a solution to improve visitor experience throughout the park.
Following from the initial cost analysis, the report systematically identifies vehicles for purchase that may best adapt to the high visitor-flow rates. This information will lead to the eventual procurement of vehicles and investment in the infrastructure necessary to support them.
As of February 2005, the Volpe Center is continuing to assist Adams in considering the expansion of its alternative transportation systems.
