Volpe Center Staff Receive Hammer Award
The Volpe Center has once again been honored as a recipient of Vice President Gore's National Performance Review Hammer Award. The Volpe Center was represented at the Award Ceremony by Ms. Lynn Murray and Dr. Peter Manning, both of the Office of Strategic Programs and Resource Planning. The Hammer Award is bestowed on employees who have made extraordinary progress toward reinventing government. The Secretary of Defense, William S. Cohen, presented the award to the Greater Boston Federal Executive Board (GBFEB), employees from Hanscom Air Force Base, the Department of Education, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the General Services Administration, and the Volpe Center in recognition of their joint computer donation program. The program has successfully delivered nearly $4M worth of computer equipment to more than 250 schools and non-profit organizations in New England.
