Alan Yost, M.A.

Alan Yost joined the Human Factors Division as a subject matter expert in air traffic control in 1997. He has worked as an air traffic controller at the Denver, Ft. Worth, and Oakland air route traffic control centers, and as an automation specialist at the FAA Technical Center in Atlantic City, NJ.

Alan also spent 2 years working under contract to the UK Civil Aviation Authority in London as a software engineer. He was part of a team responsible for the design and implementation of the radar database for the New En route Center, an upgrade to the British air traffic control system.

Alan holds a Commercial/Instrument pilot's license for single and multi-engine aircraft and is a certified flight instructor. Alan is currently managing the GPS human factors program for the Volpe Center, and is providing guidance to the FAA and NASA in the design of air/ground conflict probe integration experiments.
