About the Presentation:

The presentation will focus on the Inspector General (IG) Act and the Office of Inspector General (OIG) organizational structure:

  • Audits - structure, what prompts an audit, and communication with the Audit/OIG
  • Investigations - structure, Regions, investigations, OIG Hotline, and fraud awareness

About the speakers: Peter Babachicos is a project manager involved in national audits of the Department‘s highway and transit programs. He is a CPA and has worked for the Department for over 20 years, auditing capital projects including the Central Artery and FTA capital projects with the MBTA. From 1986 to 2001, he was the Director of Audits for the MWRA.

Theodore Doherty is the Special Agent in Charge responsible for investigative work in the six New England States. He has been employed with DOT/OIG since 1987.
