SHOW ME THE MONEY!

What spending priorities did Congress set for transportation in FY99? How does the funding in the transportation appropriations bill differ from that of TEA-21, the FAA reauthorization, and other key transportation legislation? These and other questions were answered during a special CTUG meeting on FY99 DOT funding, presented by staff from the Office of Policy and Technology Analysis (DTS-21).

Capability Maturity Model (CMM)

The Volpe Center and CSC staff discussed the Capability Maturity Model: what it is, how it is helping the Volpe Center's software development programs, and specifically what benefits the Safety Performance Analysis Program (SPAS) has achieved by following CMM practices. This discussion will be worthwhile for all staff working on software projects, as well as those interested in learning how any project which develops, documents, performs and verifies good processes has a greatly increased likelihood of success.

Remote Monitoring Technology and Techniques for Data Networks

Mr. Neil Stone from the Center's Telecommunications Division, DTS-57, presented and discussed experience on recent and future initiatives implementing Remote Monitoring Technologies with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) data communications networks. Related technologies, applied tools and techniques were demonstrated. Discussion included benefits to telecommunications billing and infrastructure maintenance.
