Situational Awareness and Logistics
The division researches, develops, implements and analyzes advanced systems to protect, enhance, and ensure resilience of the global maritime supply chain.
Capabilities
- Developing and deploying information systems to facilitate global security, throughput, and congestion reduction
- Supporting development of systems for guiding ships in narrow waterways
- Supporting development of a Nationwide Automatic Identification System to improve system-wide safety through collision avoidance and vessel detection, traffic management, and classification
- Utilizing GPS and other sensor technologies to enhance transportation protection capabilities
- Developing and implementing operational management and associated information technology disciplines to enhance regional, national and international global supply chains
- Conducting research and analyses of system integration/ implementation issues and transitional issues arising from decommissioning obsolete technologies
- Evaluating prototypes and supporting implementation new processes, procedures, and technologies
- Ensures the resilience of current and future logistics and transportation systems
