Technology Innovation and Policy
The Technology Innovation and Policy Division develops policies, strategies, and analytical tools for successful deployment of advanced surface transportation system technologies.
Capabilities
- Advanced transportation concepts and technology assessment relative to safety, mobility, energy, environmental, and security performance
- Institutional issue and technology policy analysis to support advanced technology system planning, development, and deployment
- Public policy strategy formulation to foster markets for nationwide deployment of advanced vehicle system technologies
- Traffic system modeling and simulation, and development of specialized analytical tools to assess transportation system operations and management concepts
- Strategic planning and program management support for technology research initiatives, including management of the U. S. DOT's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program
