Sue joined the Volpe Center in September 2001 as Human Resources Officer and represents the Center on the Departmental Human Resources Council. Locally, Sue collaborates with Volpe Center managers and NAGE in developing human capital policies and programs that are critical to the Volpe Center's ability to fulfill its mission and maximize its performance. She serves as a focal point to ensure the alignment of organizational and employees' needs and to strengthen employee engagement. As reflected in the 2008 Federal Human Capital Survey results, Sue has built an organization and developed a staff that delivers HR programs and services which are best in class.
Sue has completed several developmental assignments as the Chief of Staff and the acting Deputy Director, Office of Administration. For most of her Federal career, which began in 1981, Sue has worked in the human resources field. Sue started with the United States Navy as a GS-4 Clerk-Typist and has held progressively higher positions with the Defense Logistics Agency, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Census Bureau. Sue received her Bachelor's degree in Administrative Science from Yale University and a Certificate in Management and Administration from Harvard University Extension.
