Andrew J. Hansen

Andrew J. Hansen

Dr. Hansen joined the Environmental Measurement and Modeling Division in 2005. His focus within the Division is the design and implementation of the Aviation Environmental Design Tool (AEDT), particularly the system's architecture. He draws on a wide base of knowledge gained over the last 18 years from academia, corporate industry, and small business ownership. He has in-depth and practical experience in computational mathematics and optimization, statistical signal processing, geographic information systems, visual simulation and modeling, and software system design.

Dr. Hansen also supports the Surveillance and Assessment Division in the area of satellite and terrestrial navigation systems . In particular his experience in the design and implementation of the Wide Area Augmentation System for GPS provide direct domain knowledge to the Division's efforts on U.S. and international GNSS projects.

He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the Institute of Navigation (ION), and the Society for Computer Simulation (SCS) and has published regularly in journals and conference proceedings through these and other organizations.
